I'd Like My Brain Back

Dear God,

We've known each other for quite some time and I have a small request....

I'd like my brain back please.

It's really become apparent that I have lost a significant part of my brain power. And since you are my creator, I feel like you have the ability to make this happen for me.

Just today, I was driving along, happy as can be because I dropped Jordan at school on time and managed to get the twins both dressed complete with diaper bag prepped for their OT appointment. I EVEN had a hot cup of coffee ready to go in the travel mug.

All very timely....SCORE for Mommy!

As I wave goodbye to my big brave Kindergartener and head out to get on the highway, I'm marveling at how "together" I seem to have things today.

And then...

my minivan begins to slow....and sputter........and finally, it dies.

That's right....dies. On the highway, at a major merging point.

Lets not forget I currently live in Hawaii....and that beautiful, breathtaking Hawaiian sun is at it's finest today.

My wardrobe choice for the day....jeans, black top, black flats - no, not the shorts, tank top and flip-flops that I normally's laundry day. So....yeah....I'm feeling the burn. But hey, I looked totally cute for that Emergency Roadside service!

How did I let this happen?

No brain.

You see God, hard boiled eggs don't taste so great when they're charred due to forgetting them on the stove. Jordan really isn't a fan of being left at school way beyond the normal pickup time. And those crocodile tears that she shed last Friday because I forgot to put her Jamba Juice fundraiser money in her backpack....heartbreaking.

I'm seriously going to start losing friends because I rarely remember our planned get togethers unless they remind me repeatedly and with multiple forms of communication. Thank goodness for facebook Birthday reminders because I would really be dropped from the friend list!

I completely understand that I need to be accountable, but this is getting ridiculous. So.....if you could just make an exception in your policy of free will and all....

I know I should be able to figure this out, but your intervention is obviously needed.

Thanks in advance.

~~~~~A quick open letter to Honda~~~~~~~
Dear Honda,
The little yellow circle light, the size of an eraser head, you know the one that lets us know we're out of gas....NOT EFFECTIVE. Please add bells and whistles in future models. Maybe one of those really friendly OnStar-type services could call me....repeatedly.....until I fill up. I don't know...something? And if you have an add-on kit for those of us with the minivan already, that would be awesome. Thanks.
That is all.
Oh no! That's horrendous! I'm so sorry! I totally feel ya... I've not stranded us... yet... but I've racked up $100's of bucks in library fees from losing books and forgetting to turn them in on time and getting fined repeatedly. I totally forgot to bring a diaper bag to an appointment once... and both girls had diarrhea so I had to swing through B r Us for dipes, wipes, cream, etc. and ended up being late. It's so impossible to get from point A to point B while keeping everyone ALIVE, it's understandable that we drop a ball here and there. Ugh. And let's not even count the days where I walk out of the house sans bra or without deodorant... or when I get to the grocery store and realize Jack has no shoes so I have to carry him on my shoulders with one twin on each hip while I search for a cart with proper restraints... Sigh. What're you gonna do? You gotta laugh :o)
My husband yells at me all the time if I let the tank go below 1/2... Are you kidding me? Do you know what it is to take three kids to the gas station? Ugh! I so feel your pain. My eldest will be in kinder next year and my twins are just now two.
Totally crackin me up. Sorry for your no brain moment. But as I read TWINS I thought... ding, ding, ding. See, my theory is you lose a certain amount of brain cells/child. Twins is doubled. You do the math. Sorry for this bad news.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I appreciate your kind remarks regarding my little man and bullies.
And I thoroughly enjoyed stopping by. Brilliantly written. Now I must figure out how to follow you more regularly.
I have a Honda, too, and that is my biggest complaint!!! From where I sit, the teeny weeny little "reminder" is not visible through the steering wheel. I just told Jason, yesterday, why not a ding or a "you have 5 miles to go" kinda reminder? Hello? It is the 21st century, right?
Sheesh! Do I get this?!?
I call it baby brain. It is residual, gets worse with each child born. Never returns. When my Dear Husband rolls his eyes and tells me that there is no such thing I blame it on stress. It has to be something, right? I was not born this scatterbrained. I feel for ya. I'm right there forgetting just about anything that holds any importance.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I really like your writing style and think I'll follow you along.
Don't leave me hanging! What was wrong with the car and how did the rest of your day go? Don't you love God's sense of humor?
Oh I totally hear you!! Just this morning I was so distracted, I actually sideswiped a parked car on the side of the street as I was parking to drop my kiddos off at school. UGH! Then I told my hubby about it and he was like, What were you thinking?! Uh, yeah...that's the whole point. I wasn't thinking!!!!!
When I say my nightly prayer tonight, I hope you don't mind if I say something like, "Dear God, remember that blog post from today written directly to you....well, ditto".
LOL. That's awful but I have so been there. I still have moments where I feel my brain ha disappeared but less than the first 2 years of my twins lives LOL. Maybe I just learned to write things down more often.
Hope your day got better :)
